Patna: Popular educator Faisal Khan, better known as ‘Khan Sir’ will not appear before Patna Civil Court. His lawyer made this clear on Saturday.
Instead Khan Sir will seek anticipatory bail.
What the lawyer had said?
Khan Sir’s lawyer Arvind Kumar Mahuar spoke to the media. He said the deadline to file anticipatory bail had passed on Saturday. So the court could not be approached immediately. The bail petition will be filed on Monday.
What is the case?
On the night of June 2 a group of people attacked Khan Global Studies in Patna. They assaulted a security guard. They pelted stones and threw bricks. Property was damaged. Posters and banners were torn down.
Videos of the attack went viral on social media.
Initial reports said firing also took place. Patna Police later disputed some of those claims. Investigation is underway.
Rival coaching operator arrested?
Police arrested Roshan Anand as the main accused. He runs a rival coaching institute called Gyan Bindu. He has been sent to jail.
Two security guards of Khan Global Studies were also arrested. A video allegedly showed them firing into the air during the incident. Both are in judicial custody.
Khan Sir named in FIR?
Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma confirmed that Khan Sir’s name is in the FIR. Police have already questioned him.
The specific charges against him have not been made public yet.
