Islamabad: Large-scale anti-Pakistan protests have erupted across Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) following a severe government crackdown and the mass detention of over 600 civil rights activists.
The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), infuriated by the house arrest of prominent protest leader Shaukat Nawaz Mir, has openly challenged Islamabad and appealed to India for assistance. Expressing deep resentment over the arrests, the JAAC stated, “The subjects are under their control. The leaders are imprisoned.”
Viral video exposes administration?
A video featuring Sardar Aman Khan, a core member of the Jammu and Kashmir JAAC, has gone viral on social media. The footage highlights systemic brutality, acute shortages, and a worsening humanitarian crisis under Pakis
Addressing a massive gathering, Khan made a direct appeal to the people across the border, “To the people of Mendhar, Poonch, Rajouri, and Doda… we appeal to you. There is a severe shortage of rations and medicines on this side. We need your help; we need your support.”
What activists had demanded?
Highlighting the locals’ desperation to escape Pakistani control, the JAAC leader demanded the dismantling of borders. “We want to eliminate the ceasefire line (Line of Control), and we need your backing,” Khan said, urging people on the other side to come forward. He criticized the arbitrary actions of Pakistani authorities, warning that locals would no longer bow to threats from Islamabad.
“If anyone thinks we are trapped or weak because we left the door open for political dialogue, they are mistaken. No one is trapped. God willing, we will show you the path forward,” he told the energized crowd.
Will protesters march toward the Line of Control?
In another viral clip, Khan directly challenged the existing security apparatus, asking the crowd, “Should we march toward the ceasefire line (LoC) or not? Tell me loudly, should we move forward?” The crowd responded with a resounding “Yes!”
Issuing a clear warning to the Pakistani government regarding its violent crackdown on peaceful demonstrations, the JAAC leader emphasized that the region is prepared to retaliate against state-sponsored atrocities.
Did JAAC warns of strong counter-measures?
Khan stressed that the movement holds multiple options if the state resorts to violence. “If bullets are fired in response to the Kashmiri spirit and political stance, we have alternatives. Do not complain or regret it tomorrow,” he asserted. Concluding his speech, Khan stated that the local population would mirror the actions of the administration. “We are not people who will bend to your whims. If you show loyalty, we will reciprocate. If you show cruelty, we will respond with the same. We are human beings just like you. Whatever you do, we will match it,” Khan stated.
In a subsequent video, Khan addressed the wider region, including the Kashmir Valley, Srinagar, Baramulla, Poonch, Mendhar, Rajouri, Jammu, Ladakh, Kargil, and Gilgit-Baltistan, noting that PoJK has been enduring this intense pressure and oppression for nearly a month.
