Ludhiana: The murder of Punjabi singer Inder Kaur—also known as Yashinder Kaur—has sent shockwaves through the region. The body of 29-year-old Inder was recovered from the Neelo Canal around 11:00 AM on Monday. Her family members state that she was kidnapped at gunpoint six days ago; the entire family had been searching for her ever since.
What Allegations Has the Family Made?
The family alleges that a young man hailing from Moga had been pressuring Inder to marry him. When Inder refused, he kidnapped her. The family claims that the entire incident was premeditated. The accused had traveled from Canada to Punjab via Nepal. Following the murder, he reportedly fled back to Canada, again taking the route through Nepal.
How Did the Two Meet?
Family members revealed that Inder had befriended the young man on Instagram approximately three years ago. Later, Inder discovered that he was already married and had children. Upon learning this, Inder firmly refused to marry him. This refusal reportedly led him to harbor a grudge against Inder.
What Action Is the Police Taking?
Upon receiving the information, the police immediately rushed to the scene. The body was retrieved from the canal and sent to the Civil Hospital in Samrala for a post-mortem examination. The police are investigating the case from every possible angle, and teams have been deployed to apprehend the accused. The claims regarding his escape via Nepal and Canada are also being verified.
Where Is Inder’s Family?
Inder’s parents and two brothers reside in Korea. One of her brothers lives in Jamalpur, Ludhiana; he was the first to alert the police about the incident. The entire family is plunged into mourning following the tragedy. Currently, the police remain actively engaged in the search for the accused. Inder Kaur was a well-known name within the Punjabi music industry.
