Muzaffarnagar: Celebrating the special bond between mothers and children through creativity, Shri Girdhari Lal Jain Memorial Public School organised a mehndi art workshop and mother-child celebration titled “Mehndi Ke Rang, Maa Ke Sang” on Tuesday. Around 100 students from Classes V to VIII participated in the event, showcasing their artistic skills by decorating their mothers’ hands with intricate mehndi designs.
Meenakshi Swaroop Inaugurates the Celebration
The programme began at around 2 pm with Municipal Chairperson Meenakshi Swaroop formally inaugurating the event by cutting a ribbon. A large number of mothers attended the celebration as students carefully created beautiful patterns on their hands.
The young participants impressed those present with their concentration, confidence and artistic abilities. The special attraction was the group of “Mehndi Movers”, in which students moved around the school premises to display their mehndi artwork.
Creative Activities Highlight the Mother-Child Bond
The students also drew illustrations of mothers and hearts on their white shirts, symbolising their affection and emotional connection with their mothers. A dedicated mehndi display board showcased the designs created by participants, while mothers shared their appreciation by writing messages on a feedback board.
The event also featured a presentation titled “Mehndi Ki Yatra”, which introduced visitors to traditional mehndi art and its diverse styles. The initiative offered students an opportunity to explore cultural traditions while expressing themselves through art.
Students Recognised for Their Artistic Talent
Selected participants received “Mehndi Queen” certificates in recognition of their artistic skills, while all students who took part were awarded certificates of participation.
School Director Alka Jain said education should extend beyond classroom learning and textbook knowledge. She emphasised the importance of providing children with opportunities to develop practical skills and demonstrate their talents.
