Thamma Day 1 Collection:  Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Thamma has made a strong debut at the box office. This latest offering from Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe has received an overwhelming response from audiences. Capitalizing on the Diwali season, the film earned ₹25.11 crore net and ₹30 crore gross on its first day in India. Overseas, the film also had a strong opening, earning approximately ₹2 crore.

Thus, Thamma’s opening day worldwide earnings have reached ₹32 crore, surpassing many big Hindi films released in 2025.

Box office opening of the film

According to box office tracker Sacnilk, Thamma had a slow start with just 15-16% occupancy in the morning shows. However, positive word of mouth helped occupancy reach over 40% in the afternoon and evening shows. The festive atmosphere and the film’s fresh pairing drew audiences to theaters.

Overseas opening of the film

Outside India, Thamma grossed approximately ₹2 crore (approximately ₹20 million) on its opening day. However, due to the absence of Diwali holidays in other countries, the film was released on a weekend.

Among the biggest openings of the year

Thamma opened as one of the top Hindi films of the year. It surpassed Saiyara (₹30 crore) and grossed more than previous films in the Maddock horror-comedy universe, such as Stree (₹10 crore), Bhediya (₹12 crore), and Munjha (₹5 crore). However, it fell short of record-breaking openings like Chawa (₹47 crore) and Stree 2 (₹80 crore). Stree 2 remains the highest-opening Indian horror film of all time.

Story and star cast of the film

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna as vampires who fall in love. They clash with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, another vampire who aspires to rule the world. The film also surprised fans with cameo appearances by Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Banerjee.

The film is receiving praise from critics and audiences for its unique humor, visual effects, and storytelling. “Thamma” not only has had a strong opening at the box office, but has also taken Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe to new heights. If this trend continues, the film could even reach the 100 crore club in the coming days.
