Mathura: A joint team of the Agra Anti-Narcotics Task Force and Refinery Police arrested three men from Haryana after allegedly recovering 250 kilograms of ganja from a container during a checking operation on the National Highway on Sunday. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth ₹1.25 crore.

Police also confiscated the container allegedly used to transport the drugs, along with mobile phones and cash. The arrests were made as part of an ongoing drive to curb narcotics trafficking.

Highway Inspection Leads to Major Seizure

According to police, the joint team received information that a container was carrying a large consignment of ganja. Acting on the tip-off, officers intensified surveillance along the National Highway and intercepted a suspicious container. A search reportedly led to the recovery of 250 kg of the contraband.

The three arrested men were identified as Satish Kumar, son of Padam Singh; Nasir, son of Wasir; and Asif Abdul Karim. All three are residents of the Pinangwan police station area in Haryana’s Nuh district.

How Was the Consignment Allegedly Transported?

Refinery Circle Officer Praveen Tiwari said preliminary questioning indicated that the ganja had allegedly been brought from Odisha.

According to the police, Satish Kumar told investigators that he and his associates travelled to Berhampur in Odisha on October 17 in an empty container. They allegedly purchased the ganja from an acquaintance named Jitendra and loaded the consignment into the container at Raipankha before setting off.

Investigators suspect that the consignment was intended to be handed over to a person identified as Shamsher near the Uttar Pradesh-Haryana border.

Investigation Underway to Trace the Wider Network

Police are now investigating the alleged supply chain and the roles of other individuals connected with the operation. Investigators are examining the involvement of Jitendra, who allegedly supplied the ganja, Shamsher, who was reportedly expected to receive it, and any other suspected associates.

Authorities are also checking whether the accused were involved in similar narcotics trafficking activities previously. Police officials said further action would be taken against other individuals if their involvement is established during the investigation.
