Six workers lost their lives, and six others were hurt after part of a steel plant collapsed in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, on Friday, police reported. The accident took place at the Godavari Ispat Ltd plant located in the Siltara area on the outskirts of the city, a senior police officer said. “After receiving the alert, police teams were immediately sent to the site, and rescue work began. Initial reports indicate that six workers died and six others were injured,” the officer added.
Rescue Operation Underway
Raipur SP Lal Umed Singh stated, “We got information that workers were trapped after a roof collapsed at Godavari Ispat. Police reached the site and started rescue work. So far, six bodies have been recovered and six injured have been taken to the hospital. Rescue efforts are still ongoing. The injured workers are receiving treatment at a hospital, and authorities continue to search for more people who may still be trapped in the debris, the official said.
