Vrindavan: A unique expression of devotion was seen in Vrindavan on Thursday as Indulekha, who regards Thakur Banke Bihari as her husband, observed the Karwa Chauth fast for the second consecutive year. As part of the ritual, she plans to visit Nandgaon, dress in traditional attire and view her deity through a sieve before breaking her fast.
For Indulekha, the observance reflects her personal faith and deep devotion to the deity she worships.
From Nursing to a Life Dedicated to Devotion
Indulekha, a native of Rohtak in Haryana, has been living in Vrindavan for the past three years. She previously worked as a nurse but came into public discussion in 2024 after performing a marriage ceremony with an idol of Thakur Banke Bihari.
Since then, she has regarded the deity as her husband and dedicated herself to his worship and service. Observing Karwa Chauth is another part of the religious tradition she follows as an expression of her devotion.
Why Does Indulekha Visit Nandgaon on Karwa Chauth?
Indulekha considers Nandgaon more than a religious destination, viewing it as her deity’s marital home in keeping with her personal beliefs. She plans to visit the town on Karwa Chauth to carry out the rituals associated with her fast.
Nandgaon holds religious significance in the life of Lord Krishna. According to Hindu tradition, it is associated with Krishna’s childhood and the residence of Nand Baba and Mata Yashoda.
A Personal Expression of Faith in Vrindavan
Vrindavan is known for its diverse traditions of devotion to Lord Krishna. Indulekha’s way of expressing her faith is one such individual practice, drawing local attention during the traditional festival.
Her decision to observe Karwa Chauth for Thakur Banke Bihari remains a matter of personal religious belief, through which she continues to express her attachment and dedication to the deity.
