Washington: Tension between Iran and America appears to be increasing once again. Large hoardings and posters have been put up on the streets of Tehran targeting US President Donald Trump. In these posters, Trump is shown behind bars and very aggressive messages are written on them. These hoardings installed at major intersections of the capital are expressing Iran’s protest and anger against America.
According to media reports, on November 3, a huge billboard was put up in Tehran’s busy Englabh Square. In this, Trump is shown behind the jail bars with his head bowed. It is written on the poster, ‘We will kill Trump.’ This is not the first time that such posters have been put up against the US President in Iran. Even before this, hoardings making fun of Trump and talking about taking revenge from America had been seen in Tehran.
Is there a special exhibition organised against Trump in Tehran?
An open exhibition about Trump has also been set up in Tajrish Square in northern Tehran. Many controversial paintings of the American President have been displayed in it. In one painting his face is shown with blood smeared on it, while in the other a bomb is seen placed on his face. Apart from this, a jail cell has also been built there, in which an actor dressed as Trump sits.
Screens near the exhibition are showing scenes of the devastation caused by the US attacks in Iran. Iran alleges that the US attacks targeted civilian places like schools and wedding ceremonies, in which women and children also lost their lives.
What is the status of war between America and Iran?
Despite the tension between the two countries, efforts for dialogue are continuing at the diplomatic level. US President Donald Trump has also expressed the possibility of an agreement. At the same time, these posters put up in Iran show the ongoing tension between the two countries.
According to reports, the current conflict began following American and Israeli strikes on February 28. Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in these attacks. Since then, protests and propaganda campaigns against America and Israel have intensified in Iran.
What is the significance of hoardings and graffiti in Iran?
Iran has had a tradition of placing large billboards and graffiti in public places since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Through these, messages of honoring military heroes, supporting allied countries and against opposing countries are broadcasted. This time, the posters targeting Trump have come out at a time when on one hand possibilities of dialogue between the two countries are being explored and on the other hand there are no clear signs of reducing tension.
