Bathinda. A minor dispute took a violent turn late Wednesday night in the village of Bhagivander, Talwandi Sabo. During an altercation between neighbors, a 26-year-old youth was brutally beaten to death. Following the incident, an atmosphere of fear and mourning has gripped the entire locality, while deep anger prevails among the deceased’s family members.

According to reports, Harjit Singh (26)—son of Billu Singh and a member of the Dalit community—got into an argument with some individuals residing in his own neighborhood over a certain issue. The dispute escalated rapidly, leading the accused to attack him with weapons, including iron rods. Critically injured, Harjit was immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital in Talwandi Sabo, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene and took stock of the situation. Based on preliminary investigations, the police have registered a case of murder against two biological brothers. The accused have reportedly been absconding since the crime was committed, and the police are conducting continuous raids to effect their arrest. The deceased’s family members have demanded the swift arrest of the accused and the imposition of strict punishment. The family stated that their son’s life was taken over a trivial matter—an act they described as deeply tragic and reprehensible.

In this regard, DSP Talwandi Sabo, Jasjot Singh, stated that the police are investigating every aspect of the case and that the accused will be arrested shortly. He added that additional police forces have been deployed in the area to maintain peace and order.
