New Delhi: Congress workers, angry at Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, have been accused of venting their anger on a Kashmiri Muslim youth in Delhi, a Modi supporter. The youth, who was from Srinagar, alleged that he was severely beaten for speaking out in support of Gyanesh Kumar, EVMs, and Modi. He said he did not want the country to become like Nepal or Bangladesh.

The victim told media that his name was Faheem Nazir, a resident of Srinagar. On Thursday, he had gone to a restaurant in Connaught Place where Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had invited MPs from opposition parties for lunch. Faheem alleged that he was severely beaten when he began speaking in support of Modi and regarding EVMs in front of Congress workers present.

Protest Turns Chaotic

Meanwhile, the political demonstration organised by the INDIA Alliance against the Central Election Commission in the highly sensitive New Delhi area witnessed considerable chaos. Following a scuffle and alleged misbehaviour between protesters and Delhi Police personnel deployed for security, the police have now initiated legal action.

According to police sources, several cases have been registered in connection with allegations of disrupting security arrangements, manhandling police personnel, obstructing government work, disobeying police instructions and entering government premises without permission during the protest.

Cases Registered at Two Police Stations

According to police sources, violations of the prohibitory orders imposed in the New Delhi area during the protest have also been taken seriously. Two cases have been registered at Parliament Street Police Station and one at Connaught Place Police Station for allegedly violating orders issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The police are now examining the activities that took place during the protest, the people present at the spot and other evidence related to the incident.

Tension Escalates After Scuffle, Police Take Control

Tension prevailed at the protest site after some demonstrators allegedly attempted to cross the security cordon and failed to comply with police instructions. Police sources said personnel deployed at the spot took necessary steps to bring the situation under control and maintain law and order.
