As per the police officials on Monday, nine members of the banned Maoist group Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP) surrendered before the security forces in Latehar district, handing over their arms and ammunition. The group that surrendered included a self-styled zonal commander and four sub-zonal commanders, with a combined reward of Rs 23 lakh on them. The surrendered Maoists handed over a large collection of weapons, including four AK-47 rifles and three SLRs.
Details of the Surrendered Leaders
Ravindra Yadav, the self-proclaimed zonal commander of JJMP, who had a Rs 5 lakh bounty and was wanted in 14 cases, handed himself over to the police with two AK-47s, three rifles, and 1,241 rounds of ammunition, a police statement said. Three self-styled sub-zonal commanders, each with a Rs 5 lakh bounty, included Akhilesh Ravindra Yadav (wanted in 10 cases), Baldev Ganjhu (wanted in nine cases), and Mukesh Ram (wanted in 21 cases).
Another sub-zonal commander, Pawan alias Ram Prasad, had a Rs 3 lakh reward and was wanted in three cases, the statement added. The four self-styled area commanders who surrendered were Dhruv, Vijay Yadav, Shravan Singh, and Mukesh Ganjhu, who were wanted in a total of nine cases, it said.
