Fatehabad: Fatehabad Police are continuing their efforts to prevent substance abuse and protect young people from its harmful effects under Operation Jeevan Jyoti. As part of the campaign, a de-addiction team led by Sub-Inspector Sunder Lal conducted an awareness drive in Gilakhera village and organised two separate seminars for physical education teachers and school principals at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Matana.

Village Outreach Focuses on the Harmful Effects of Drugs

During the village campaign, police personnel held street-corner meetings to educate residents about the physical, psychological, familial and social consequences of substance abuse. Young people were particularly encouraged to stay away from drugs and adopt a positive, healthy lifestyle.

The team also followed up with individuals undergoing treatment for substance dependence. They were encouraged to continue their treatment regularly and remain committed to building a drug-free life.

Two Awareness Seminars Held at DIET Matana

Following the village outreach, the de-addiction team conducted two separate seminars at DIET Matana during training programmes for physical education teachers and school principals.

The sessions focused on ways to prevent students from falling into substance abuse, recognise unusual changes in their behaviour and provide timely guidance and counselling. Participants were also informed about the importance of identifying warning signs early and connecting students in need with appropriate support.

Teachers and Parents Play a Key Role in Prevention

Sub-Inspector Sunder Lal emphasised that teachers and parents have a crucial role in protecting children from substance abuse. He stressed the importance of maintaining positive supervision of students’ activities, communicating with them regularly and encouraging their participation in sports and creative pursuits.

The sessions also highlighted the need to approach students affected by substance-related problems with sensitivity and help them access appropriate treatment and counselling rather than resorting to stigma or blame.

Sunder Lal urged teachers and school principals to strengthen anti-drug awareness initiatives in educational institutions and actively cooperate with the police and administration in preventing substance abuse.

Operation Jeevan Jyoti to Continue

Fatehabad Police reiterated that Operation Jeevan Jyoti aims not only to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs but also to help affected individuals move towards healthier lives through treatment, counselling and continued support.

The police said the campaign would continue through community outreach and educational initiatives, with an emphasis on prevention, early intervention and rehabilitation.
