New Delhi: Yamaha has unveiled its new adventure motorcycle, the Tenere 4 Concept. This bike has been unveiled ahead of EICMA 2026. It could be the first model in the company’s Tenere series. It is believed to be powered by a new, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine of approximately 400cc. However, the company has not yet shared details regarding its engine capacity and power. With this concept, Yamaha has hinted at expanding its presence in the middleweight adventure bike segment in the future. It could compete with KTM bikes.
Expected to get a 400cc engine
Yamaha’s Tenere series is particularly known for adventure and off-roading motorcycles. Now, the company is preparing to add a new entry-level bike to this series. To this end, the Tenere 4 Concept has been introduced. The ‘4’ in this bike’s name suggests that it could feature a 400cc engine. The engine shown in the concept model appears to be single-cylinder and liquid-cooled. It is being said that this will be Yamaha’s new engine.
This engine is likely different from the 395cc engine used in the company’s older XMAX 400 scooter. The XMAX 400 featured a 395cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produced 33 bhp and 36 Nm of torque. This scooter was discontinued around 2020 due to Euro 5 emission regulations.
Specially designed for off-roading
The Yamaha Tenere 4 Concept is designed as an adventure bike. It can be used for off-roading on rough terrain as well as long-distance highway travel. The bike features good ground clearance. Its front features a distinctive beak design, considered a hallmark of adventure bikes. A tall windscreen and handguards are also provided, which will help protect the rider from strong winds and obstacles.
The bike’s main frame is also reportedly new. It’s been designed to be lightweight and robust, making it easy to handle off-road. It features a flat fuel tank at the bottom. A rally-style seat and high handlebars provide the rider with an upright and comfortable seating position.
KYB suspension and 21-inch front wheel
The Tenere 4 Concept features KYB front and rear suspension. It’s believed these could also offer adjustment. The concept bike features wire-spoke wheels measuring 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear. These wheels are shod with Michelin Anakee Wild off-road tyres. The bike also features a box-section rear swingarm and a raised Akrapovic-branded exhaust system. Yamaha has not yet revealed the production model, launch timeline, price, or full specifications of this bike. More details are expected to be revealed in the future.
