In Jharkhand’s Palamu district, a 14-year-old girl was reportedly raped and killed, according to police on Wednesday. The suspect, 21-year-old Arun Kumar, was taken into custody. Authorities stated that the case, filed on October 18, was cracked quickly due to a thorough investigation.
Details of the Incident
Medininagar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mani Bhusan Prasad said the girl left her home on the night of October 16, telling her family she was going to her cousin’s place. “When she didn’t come back the next day, her family checked and learned she never arrived at her cousin’s house. Her body was discovered in a pond near the village around 4:30 pm on October 17,” Prasad explained.
Police said Kumar allegedly stopped the girl on her way, raped her in a secluded area, and then choked her to death. “After that, he strangled her and threw her body into the pond. The girl’s phone was tossed into the pond, and her slippers and clothes were found in a well,” the SDPO added.
Investigation and Arrest
After finding the body, police started an investigation and arrested Kumar, who reportedly admitted to the crime. “The suspect threw the body into the pond after killing her and dumped her clothes in a well,” an officer said. The girl’s body has been sent for a post-mortem, and police are waiting for forensic results. The investigation is still ongoing.
