Tehran: Amidst the increasing tension between Iran and America, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has made a sharp attack on Israel and America. In a long post on social media platform X, he described Israel as a “cancerous tumor.” He wrote that “the faltering Zionist regime is moving towards its end.” Along with this, he described slogans like “Down with America” and “Down with Israel” as the voice of the oppressed people around the world.
How did Israel counterattack?
Hours after Khamenei’s statement, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar responded on social media. Referring to Khamenei’s father without naming him, he taunted that “a person with the same surname had once said the same things.” He also asked sarcastically, “By the way, where are you now?” This rhetoric between the two sides has now taken the form of a social media war.
Were the Gulf countries also warned?
Mojtaba Khamenei also gave a big statement regarding Gulf countries and America. He said that now the countries of the Gulf region will not act as a shield for American military bases. In a message released on his Telegram channel, he claimed that the Gulf region will not be safe for America in the future. This statement is being considered as increasing regional tension.
Why did tension increase again between America and Iran?
Although there was talk of extending the ceasefire, the situation worsened again after American action in southern Iran. The US claimed that it attacked the Iranian boats in self-defense. In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) claimed that it had shot down America’s MQ-9 Reaper drone. After this incident, tension between the two countries has increased further.
Could the situation get worse?
The continuously increasing military activities and sharp statements in the Middle East have increased global concern. The already ongoing tension between Iran and Israel now seems to be becoming more serious due to America’s direct involvement.
At present, neither side is showing any signs of backing down, due to which the situation may become more tense in the coming days.
