New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday carried out raids at 12 locations across four states, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra, in connection with a Pakistani handler and a terror plot being hatched from across the border.
Where were the raids conducted?
According to NIA officials, the searches were conducted at five locations in Uttar Pradesh, three in Maharashtra, two in Rajasthan, and two in Bihar. The operation targeted suspects suspected of having links to the entire network.
The operation was conducted with the assistance of central agency and local police. During the searches, several suspects were questioned, while important documents and digital devices were seized.
Form where the mastermind was working?
The investigation revealed that the mastermind of this conspiracy was a Pakistani operative, identified as Jasvir Chaudhary. The accused, along with his Indian associates, delivered a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, including IEDs, through drone drops across the India-Pakistan border.
Officials said the accused were planning to carry out serial blasts in Punjab, Delhi and other parts of the country with the help of these weapons, so as to cause massive loss of life and property.
Teams are currently carrying out forensic examination of the seized digital evidence.
Meanwhile, agencies are also probing the funding network and alleged links connected to Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti. Sources said the NIA may soon make major revelations regarding the terror module and the larger conspiracy being investigated
