Iran Refuses Nuclear Site Inspections, Rejects Claims Of Trump And Vance

Washington: After the recent talks held in Switzerland between America and Iran, a new controversy has arisen regarding the nuclear programme. Contrary to the claims of US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, Iran has made it clear that it has not given any new consent regarding the inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bakai rejected the US claims, saying Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA would continue under existing security agreements and the country’s legal framework. He said that there has been no agreement regarding any new changes or additional permission in the nuclear inspection system.

What is the whole matter?

In fact, after talks between representatives of America and Iran in Switzerland, US Vice President JD Vance had claimed that Iran has agreed to allow nuclear inspectors entry into the country and further strengthen the inspection system. Later, President Donald Trump also reiterated the same claim and said that Iran will accept comprehensive inspections to maintain transparency in its nuclear programme.

What did Iran say?

Speaking to government news agency IRNA, Ismail Bakai said that cooperation will continue under the already existing ‘Safeguards Agreement’ between Iran and the IAEA. He clarified that all procedures will be followed as per the laws made by the Parliament of the country and the decisions of the Supreme National Security Council.

Bakai said the claims being made by the US do not reflect the real situation, and Iran has not made any new commitments related to nuclear inspections.

Why is America seeing progress?

The US administration believes that recent talks have been positive and have increased the chances of a comprehensive agreement in the future. JD Vance described the first round of talks as “extremely successful” and said it laid the foundation for a possible agreement between the two countries.

What next?

Experts believe that there are still many important differences between America and Iran regarding the nuclear programme. In such a situation, the difference in the statements of both parties indicates that it may take time to reach a final agreement. At present, the eyes of the world are fixed on the next talks to be held between the two countries.
