Kolkata: A massive fire broke out in a pipeline carrying naphtha at the Haldia refinery in West Bengal on Tuesday. The fire was so intense that several workers nearby were engulfed in flames. According to initial reports, 15 people were injured in the incident.
Where did the incidednt happen?
The incident occurred between 4 am and 5 am, when flames suddenly erupted from the pipeline. A massive fire broke out in a naphtha pipeline at Haldia Refinery in West Bengal on Tuesday. The fire was so intense that several workers present in the area suffered burn injuries. All the injured have been admitted to hospital for treatment.
In the video, thick plumes of black smoke billowed into the sky as people struggled to douse the flames.

What is the reason of fire?
The incident caused panic within the refinery premises. Several fire engines arrived at the scene and efforts began to control the fire. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
According to officials, the matter is being investigated and efforts are underway to completely control the fire.
Haldia Refinery was established in January 1975. This refinery produces various petroleum products like LPG, petrol, diesel, Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), and jute batching oil.
How many workers were injured?
The Haldia Refinery is located in the city of Haldia in the East Medinipur district of West Bengal. It is situated at the confluence of the Haldia and Hooghly rivers, about 136 kilometers from Kolkata. The cause of the pipeline fire has not yet been determined. The injured have been admitted to the Haldia Sub-Divisional Hospital, some of whom are in critical condition. About 15 workers are reported to have been affected in the incident.
