Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday refused to wear a Muslim cap at a madrasa teachers’ programme in Patna. The cap was offered to him as part of a traditional gesture during the event. Minister Zama Khan tried to place the cap on Kumar’s head, but the Chief Minister quickly removed it and placed it back on Khan, telling him to wear it instead.
Commotion at Minority Event
The Chief Minister was attending the Minority Dialogue programme at Bapu Auditorium in Patna, organised to mark 100 years of the Madrasa Board. This event was also significant as it gave Kumar an opportunity to directly meet members of the minority community after a long gap.
During the function, several madrasa teachers and community representatives tried to hand over applications to the Chief Minister. At first, officials prevented them from approaching him, which caused a brief disturbance in the hall.
Nitish Kumar Steps In
Noticing the situation, Kumar intervened and asked the officials to allow people to meet him directly. He personally accepted the applications from those present at the venue. This gesture from the Chief Minister immediately calmed down the participants, who were eager to share their issues.
Assurance on Grievances
After reading the applications, Kumar passed them on to his officials with the assurance that all concerns would be looked into. His direct involvement not only resolved the commotion but also reassured the attendees that their problems would be considered.
