Israel Warns Trump of New Iran Assassination Threat

Washington: Amid rising tensions between the US and Iran, a new report has sparked a sensation. According to reports, Israel shared intelligence with the United States that Iran had recently devised a new plan to assassinate President Donald Trump.

What did the Israel say?

As per reports, Israel has provided intelligence to the US, claiming that Iran is preparing a new plot to assassinate President Donald Trump. This information comes at a time when military confrontation between the two countries has intensified.

According to media reports, Israeli intelligence agencies warned US officials this week that Iran was working on a specific plan to target Trump. However, US agencies have not yet been able to independently confirm this input.

The report stated that Iran has consistently called for retaliation against Trump since the killing of General Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force, in a US drone strike in 2020. Anti-Trump slogans were also raised during the funeral of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

What did Donald Trump say about assassination?

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday claimed that he is Iran’s “number one target”. While speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the NATO summit, Trump said, “They want to eliminate the American leader. I’m on every list they have. I’ve had some luck so far, but it probably won’t last forever. They’re evil and sick people. We have to get rid of this cancer.”

“I’m their number one target,” Trump said. “They had leaders, they’re gone. Now they have another set of leaders. They may be gone. And you know what, I may be gone too, because I’m their number one target,” he said.

However, some US officials believe the Israeli information may be an attempt to pressure Trump to take a tougher stance against Iran. Some officials in the US intelligence community said the Israeli input had not yet been fully verified.

What about US-Iran talks?

Meanwhile, tensions between the US and Iran are steadily rising. Recent days have seen attacks and counter-attacks between the two countries, while a ceasefire arrangement has virtually collapsed. President Trump has also announced that the US Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tehran is now over and that he does not want to engage with them further. This statement came just hours after the US attacks on Iran.

Despite this, US officials claim that behind-the-scenes negotiations on the nuclear deal are continuing, and efforts are underway to reach an agreement by mid-August.
