Police have arrested five gangsters, including a woman, in Ranchi and seized three pistols made in Pakistan from them, officials said. Acting on a secret tip, police caught the male criminals near Chutu overbridge under the BIT Mesra police station area and arrested the woman from the Argora police station area on Wednesday. The accused were found to be members of the Koylanchal Shanti Sena (KSS) and also had links with the Prince Khan gang, police said. The woman was identified as Riya Sinha, wife of KSS leader Sujeet Sinha. Police recovered three Pakistan-made pistols, seven magazines, 13 bullets, a car, six mobile phones, and ₹10 lakh in cash from them.
Details About the Arrested Gang Members
The arrested men have been identified as Inamul Haq, his bodyguard Ravi Anand alias Singha, and Mohammad Shaheed alias Afreedi Khan, along with Mohammad Seraj, both relatives of Haq. Officials said all of them have a criminal record. Superintendent of Police (City) Paras Rana said, “Last month, there was a firing incident in the Tupudana police station area for which KSS took responsibility. Some of the culprits were caught after a gunfight.” He further said the investigation revealed that KSS leader Sujeet Sinha was in direct contact with gangster Prince Khan, who is currently living in the UAE.
Arms Smuggling and Money Trail
During questioning, the arrested persons revealed that Sujeet Sinha and Prince Khan were smuggling arms and ammunition from Pakistan using drones through Punjab. These weapons were used to threaten businessmen across India, including Ranchi, to extort money from them. In Ranchi, Inamul Haq alias Bablu Khan and his men collected money on behalf of Sinha and Khan. The collected amount was sent to Prince Khan with the help of Sinha’s gang members. From there, it was transferred to Pakistan via the UAE, where it was used to buy illegal weapons and fund other unlawful activities, the SP said.
Riya Sinha was also arrested, and a case has been registered against her at the Ormanjhi police station. A non-bailable warrant was already issued in her name. “She helped Inamul Haq in supplying firearms in Ranchi. We will present her before the court,” the SP said. Rana confirmed that the investigation has proved these weapons came from Pakistan. “We have also found that some women from Punjab brought these firearms to Ranchi. The name of the Pakistani supplier has also come up. Our investigation is still going on,” he added. Police said 10 cases are already registered against Inamul Haq in different police stations in Ranchi.
