New Delhi: There was tremendous enthusiasm among the people regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vadodara programme to be held on Tuesday. For the first time, free registration for the programme was started through private digital platform BookMyShow. Within about an hour of the start of registration, all the available seats were booked. After this, more than 42 thousand people were kept in the waiting list.
Why did the seats for the programme fill up so fast?
Vadodara Municipal Corporation used BookMyShow to manage people’s entry and seats at the Prime Minister’s event. According to officials, this is the first initiative to register on a private ticketing platform for a public event of a prime minister. Its objective is to manage the crowd and digitalise the entire process from entry to seating.
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi also mentioned people’s interest in the programme through a social media post. The demand for registration was much greater than the available capacity, resulting in thousands of people being placed on the waiting list.
Will entry not be available without digital ticket?
People registering for the event will receive a digital M-Ticket on their BookMyShow account. It will have a live QR code, which will be scanned at the venue to grant entry. The process of identity verification, entry and seat allotment will also be linked to this digital system.
This arrangement is expected to help control long queues and crowd at the venue. The programme is being organised at the Pavilion Ground of Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara.
Which big projects will PM Modi start?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth more than Rs 35 thousand crore during his visit to Vadodara. These include railways, highways, freight corridors and projects related to Gujarat government.
The largest projects include three segments of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. More than Rs 20,700 crore has been spent on this 326 km long section. With their commencement, freight traffic between industrial areas and Jawaharlal Nehru Port is expected to gain momentum. This can also help in reducing pressure on existing railway routes and reduce logistics costs.
What new will be found regarding railways and highways?
Modi will also flag off goods train services from New Sanand, New Makarpura, New Umargaon and New JNPT. Apart from this, a new passenger train service will be started between Vadodara and Tanda Road.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the Jobat-Tanda Road new railway line to the country, which is expected to provide better connectivity to the railway network to the remote and tribal areas of Alirajpur. With this, the foundation stone of three 329 km long railway projects will be laid, costing more than Rs 9,700 crore. Three national highway projects worth about Rs 1,780 crore are also included in this.
Gujarat government projects worth about Rs 2,600 crore are also part of the programme. After this visit of the Prime Minister, he will go to Mumbai, where he will inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026.
