Three people died and three others were injured after a spectator tent touched a high-voltage power line during a kabaddi match in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday late night, Media reported, quoting police. The incident took place in Ravaswahi village, which comes under Baderajpur development block, while the match was going on, a police official said.

The Victims

The dead have been identified as Satish Netam, who was a player and also watching the match, along with Shyamlal Netam and Sunil Shori, all from nearby villages. According to reports, a sudden storm caused an 11-kV power line to hit the iron pole of the tent set up for spectators, giving electric shocks to several people.

Rescue and Hospitalisation

Locals quickly took six affected people to a hospital in Vishrampuri, where three were declared dead. Two of the injured were later moved to a specialised medical centre because their condition was serious, the official added. Police have confirmed that a detailed investigation into the accident is ongoing.
