From Roads to Skies: US Company Launches Flying Car

New Delhi: Doroni Aerospace, a Florida-based company, recently unveiled the new H1-X model—a two-seater electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft—at an event. Simply put, it is a small aircraft—essentially a flying car—that takes off and lands vertically, much like a helicopter. Its most notable feature is that it is designed for personal use by the general public.

Let’s take a look at the features, range, and price of this impressive personal aircraft.

Does it fit in a standard car garage?

Although it is an aircraft, its size is remarkably practical.
Weight and Size: Made of carbon fiber, the aircraft has an empty weight of approximately 839 kg. It measures 16 to 18 feet in length and stands about 6 feet tall.
No Parking Worries: It has a wingspan of around 18 feet and can easily fit into a standard garage designed for two cars.
Capacity: It comfortably seats two people and has a total payload capacity of 226 kg.
Takes off without a runway
It does not require an airstrip or runway to fly.
It is equipped with eight specialized fans for vertical take-off and landing. Once airborne, two additional rear-mounted fans propel it forward.
Unlike standard helicopters, the blades are not exposed; the fans are enclosed within ducts. This design not only minimizes noise but also ensures safety for people standing nearby.
The company has released a video of this electric aircraft, which you can watch above.

What about Speed, Range, and Superfast Charging?

This aircraft is ideal for short trips within the city or to nearby areas. Top Speed – It can fly at a top speed of 193 km/h. It is designed to operate at altitudes ranging from 500 to 1,500 feet above the ground.
Range – On a full charge, it can remain airborne for 45 minutes and cover a distance of approximately 96 kilometers. The company is working on extending this range in the future.
Charging – It can be charged using any standard electric vehicle (EV) charger. It charges up to 80 percent in just 25 minutes.
Easy Controls
You do not need to be a pilot to fly this electric aircraft.
Its cabin resembles that of a car, with side-by-side seating for two occupants. It is operated using a single joystick.
Takeoff and landing are executed with the push of a button. Its software automatically maintains stability during flight.
The display provides a centralized view of battery status, speed, weather, and navigation. It is equipped with radar, LiDAR, and 360-degree cameras that detect obstacles in advance, ensuring a safe flight.
Safety and Price
Robust Safety Features – In addition to having no exposed blades, it includes a ballistic parachute and a backup motor for emergencies. The company is working to obtain certification from the US aviation authority (FAA).
Price and Delivery – Deliveries are expected to begin in 2028. The estimated price ranges from $350,000 to $400,000 (approximately ₹3.3 crore to ₹3.7 crore).
