Washington: The sensational shooting of an Indian-origin family in the US state of Texas has shocked the local community and relatives in India. 19-year-old Gaurav Chopra has been accused of shooting and killing his father, mother and grandmother. According to the police, during the incident, he also targeted his elder brother, but he narrowly escaped and he called the emergency service 911 and informed about the entire incident. The accused was later chased and arrested by the police. Currently he is facing many serious charges and the investigation of the case is going on.

According to investigating agencies, the incident took place at the family home in Alton city, Texas. At around 9 pm, police received information that there had been firing inside the house. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two people dead, while another was seriously injured. The injured person was taken to the hospital, but he also died during treatment. The deceased have been identified as Sweeta Ram, his wife Kamlesh Rani and elderly family member Minder Kaur. All died due to bullet injuries.

According to police officials, the accused had also fired at his 21-year-old elder brother but missed the target. After this the brother immediately called 911 and asked for help. Officials believe that if he had not given information in time, the situation could have been even worse. Investigation has also revealed that the accused had fled from the house immediately after the incident.

The police started searching for the suspicious vehicle. Within a short time, officers identified the accused’s car and chased him. After an operation that lasted several kilometers, the vehicle was stopped and Gaurav Chopra was taken into custody. During the arrest, a 9 mm handgun was recovered from his car, which investigators are considering as the possible weapon used in the murder.
