New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals’ young sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has once again claimed the number one spot. In a match played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the Rajasthan Royals secured a 7-wicket victory over the Lucknow Super Giants. While chasing a target of 221 runs, 15-year-old Vaibhav played a blistering innings of 93 runs; following this knock, he seized the top spot on the list of the season’s highest run-scorers—thereby claiming the ‘Orange Cap.’ Earlier in the first innings, Mitchell Marsh had scored 96 runs for Lucknow, thereby securing the top position for the Orange Cap; however, just a few hours later, Vaibhav snatched the Orange Cap away from him.

The Orange Cap Rests on Vaibhav’s Head

In fact, while playing for Lucknow against RR, Mitchell Marsh played a magnificent innings of 96 runs. With this innings, he had accumulated a total of 563 runs across 13 innings in the 2026 IPL season. He had claimed the Orange Cap during the first innings; however, Suryavanshi played a brilliant innings that boosted his run tally to 579, allowing him to capture the Orange Cap. Prior to this match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was positioned at number 8; however, by playing an innings of 93 runs against Lucknow, he surpassed seven other batters to secure the coveted first place.

Furthermore, the manner in which the young opener scored his runs has become a major talking point. He has amassed his runs this season at a strike rate of 236.32—a record that stands as the best in the history of the IPL. Additionally, he created history by hitting 53 sixes in a single IPL season, becoming the first Indian batter ever to achieve this feat. Now, his sights are set on the all-time record held by Chris Gayle (59) for the most sixes hit in a single IPL season.
