Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday announced the names of its eight candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh. In the list released by the party, Dharampal Singh, Radhakant Ojha, Prakash Pal, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Gopi Krishna Pandey, Priyanka Singh Rawat, Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan and Shruti Gangwar have been made candidates. The special thing is that Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and BL Verma have not been made candidates again this time.

Which names are in BJP’s list?

The eight candidates announced by BJP include many faces associated with the organization and state politics. Dharampal Singh is one of the prominent leaders associated with the organization of BJP. Radhakant Ojha is an advocate of Allahabad High Court. Prakash Pal and Vidyasagar Sonkar have also been active in the party organization. Two women candidates in the form of Priyanka Singh Rawat and Shruti Gangwar have also found a place in the list.

Has Shruti Gangwar also got a chance?

The most discussed name in this list is about Shruti Gangwar. Shruti Gangwar is the daughter of former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Santosh Gangwar. The party has made her its candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, Priyanka Singh Rawat is also included in the list, due to which BJP has also given place to women representation.

Why did Hardeep Singh Puri and BL Verma not get tickets?

The Rajya Sabha tenure of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Union Minister of State BL Verma from Uttar Pradesh is about to end in November. This time BJP did not include both of them in its list. Earlier, the names of both the leaders were discussed among the possible candidates, but they did not find a place in the final list of the party.

When will Rajya Sabha elections be held?

Voting for 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh is to be held on October 16. According to the election schedule, the last date for filing nominations is October 6, while scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on October 7. Candidates will be able to withdraw their names till 9th October. Voting will be held on October 16 from 9 am to 4 pm and counting of votes will also be done on the same day.

How many seats are likely to go to BJP’s account?

Looking at the number of BJP and its allies in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, it has come to light that the party is in a position to win eight seats. Samajwadi Party has also fielded its candidates. In such a situation, the eight names released by BJP for Rajya Sabha elections have made the electoral picture clear to a great extent.
