New Delhi: Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms brought much-needed relief from the heat in Delhi on Tuesday morning. However, the downpour also caused widespread disruption across the Delhi-NCR region. Several areas, including Sadar Bazar in central Delhi, witnessed severe waterlogging, with knee-deep water making it difficult for commuters and disrupting normal traffic movement.
Who is facing problems due to rain?
The waterlogging is also severely impacting local businesses, disrupting their daily operations and reducing customer footfall. Light to moderate rain is forecast throughout the day in the national capital. Heavy rain was recorded in various areas between 5:30 am and 8:30 am in the morning. As per IMD, cloud cover will continue to persist, with light to moderate rain likely during the day. Temperatures will remain below or near normal.
What did the IMD say?
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain for the entire Delhi region. In view of the changing weather conditions, the IMD has issued yellow and orange alerts for different parts of Delhi. Due to continuous rain, the temperature has dropped, which has given much relief to the people of Delhi from the humid heat. The administration has instructed the people to be cautious.
According to the IMD, the intensity of the rain is expected to increase over the next few hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in many areas. The rain is expected to cause waterlogging in many areas of the city. Therefore, the department has appealed to citizens to avoid going out unless necessary and to follow the weather department’s advice.

What about Delhi’s weather?
On Tuesday, Delhi’s minimum temperature was recorded at 25.5 degrees Celsius. The day’s temperature is expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius. Clouds will remain scattered throughout the day, with occasional sunny spells, which may cause humidity.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 77 at 10 am on Tuesday. This is considered “satisfactory.” The air quality in NCR cities is also in the satisfactory to moderate category.
