'I Disliked Her': Husband Allegedly Sells Wife for Rs 50,000 To Friend; Woman Assaulted In Gujarat

Ahmedabad: A case has come to light from Palanpur in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district that shames not only relationships but humanity itself. A man sold his own wife for money. Police have uncovered this horrific incident, which has shocked society.

What is the case?

A missing woman complaint was filed at the police station. A routine investigation quickly devolved into a horrific tale of betrayal, greed, and cruelty. The mastermind of the entire racket turned out to be the victim’s husband, Nikesh Patel. He allegedly traded his wife’s freedom and dignity for a mere Rs 50,000.

What is the reason of selling?

Nikesh didn’t like his wife. To get rid of her, he stooped to such a low level that he sent the girl, with whom he had taken seven vows and promised to take care, into hell for the sake of a few thousand rupees.

How was the conspiracy revealed?

The conspiracy began to unravel on May 19, when Ganeshpura resident Nikesh Patel went to the Palanpur West police station to report his wife’s mysterious disappearance. Police said Nikesh had orchestrated a deliberate ploy to evade the suspicions of law enforcement agencies and mislead authorities. He posed as a distressed husband seeking help.

However, as investigators under Deputy Superintendent of Police Dr. Jignesh Gamit began to delve deeper into the disappearance case, numerous inconsistencies and contradictions began to emerge in the husband’s statements. Under persistent and rigorous police questioning, he broke down and confessed to the heinous crime.

Did he sell his wife for money?

Nikesh told police that he hated his wife. Because of this, he conspired with his friends to get rid of her through a monetary deal. Based on his shocking confession, Palanpur West police launched a swift rescue operation, successfully locating the location where the woman was being held. Police rescued the victim and bringing her to safety.

What happen to the woman?

Although the woman was freed from captivity, she was in a state of shock. The woman shared her harrowing ordeal with authorities. She revealed that during her captivity, members of the human trafficking ring subjected her to horrific torture, including sexual assault and gang rape. She also told police that the criminals forcibly took all her gold jewelry, which they then sold for profit.

The woman’s husband, Nikesh Patel, along with his friends Sanjay Thakor, Ashok Thakor, and Sachin Darbar, had pre-planned the deal. He sold his wife to buyers for Rs 50,000.

According to the investigation, the gang lured the woman to a secluded location under the pretext of a trip and handed her over to the criminals, who forcibly confined her. Following the victim’s statement, police immediately took action and registered a case under stringent sections of human trafficking, gang rape, robbery, and criminal conspiracy. A total of seven accused, including her husband Nikesh Patel, Sanjay Thakor, Ashok Thakor, and Sachin Darbar, were arrested and jailed.
