Lucknow: A unique example of humanity and communal harmony was witnessed on Sunday in Sivaya village on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. After a young Muslim boy died because of a heart attack, the family had the issue of organizing a funeral procession because of the massive number of Shiva devotees on the highway route.

Where did the incident happen?
On Sunday, a unique example of faith and humanity was witnessed on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway in Daurala. 40-year-old Nizam, son of Sheradin, a resident of Sivaya village, died of a heart attack. His funeral procession had to cross the Kanwar route to the cemetery, which was filled with a large crowd of Kanwariyas.
The family was facing with the challenge of carrying out the funeral procession. They informed the police. Upon receiving the information, Daurala police station in-charge Suman Kumar Singh arrived at Sivaya village with the police force and took stock of the situation.
How did the police help?
In the presence of police, the family members proceeded with the funeral procession towards the cemetery. Seeing the large crowd of devotees on the highway, the police erected barricades and stopped the devotees of Shiva. When the devotees asked the police the reason for the stoppage, they were told that a funeral procession was to pass through the village.
What did the Kanwariyas do?
Upon hearing this, many Kanwariyas began informing each other about the incident. In no time, they began stopping each other to clear the way for the funeral procession. The DJ was also turned off during this time.
Some Kanwariyas also formed a chain and stood on the highway, and thousands of pilgrims remained peacefully there untill the entire funeral procession crossed the highway and proceeded towards the cementery.
The Kanwar route was briefly eerily quiet, amidst the echoes of devotional songs and DJ music. The Kanwariyas stayed put until the funeral procession passed, giving way to the family members. Villagers praised this example of brotherhood and humanity among the devotees of Shiva.
