New Delhi: While stainless steel utensils regain their shine with proper cleaning, aluminium utensils tend to turn black over time. Removing the dirt and grime accumulated on their surfaces can become difficult. If you are also facing this problem, here are some simple tips that can help restore your kadhai’s shine in just a few minutes.

1. Vinegar: Using vinegar can be an effective way to reduce the layer of grime and black stains accumulated on a kadhai. Vinegar has acidic properties that can help remove grease and dirt.

To clean the kadhai, fill it with water and add half a cup of vinegar. Place it on the stove and let the mixture boil for at least 15–20 minutes. After a while, use a Scotch-Brite scrubber to scrub the surface thoroughly and clean it.

2. Lemon and Baking Soda: A mixture of lemon juice and baking soda can also help restore the shine of your aluminium kadhai in just a few minutes.

To prepare the mixture, add one teaspoon of baking soda and the juice of one lemon. Leave it for five minutes. Then, scrub the kadhai with a scrubber to remove the dirt and stains.

3. Detergent and Water: Another method is to boil detergent and water in the kadhai to loosen the accumulated grime.

Add two teaspoons of detergent and one cup of water to the kadhai. You can also add the juice of half a lemon if you wish. Place the kadhai on the stove and boil the mixture for 10 minutes. Allow the water to cool before scrubbing the utensil clean.

4. Fine Sandpaper: If a thick layer of dirt has accumulated on the underside of the kadhai, fine sandpaper can be used to remove it.

Take a piece of fine sandpaper and gently rub it against the underside of the kadhai using light pressure. This can gradually remove the thick, blackened layer. Afterward, clean the surface with dishwashing liquid and a scrubber.

What Precautions Should You Take?

Many people use a knife to scrape off thick black deposits from a kadhai after trying different cleaning remedies, believing that it will help clean the utensil more effectively.
However, sharp objects should not be used to clean a kadhai, as they can scratch or damage its surface. It is better to use suitable cleaning methods and gentle scrubbing to remove stubborn stains without harming the utensil.
