Washington: US President Donald Trump has claimed that an important agreement between America and Iran can be signed on Sunday. According to Trump, this agreement will start a new chapter in the relations between the two countries and will also pave the way for the reopening of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement released on social media, Trump said that this proposed agreement will be different and stricter than the nuclear agreement signed during the tenure of former President Barack Obama. He claims that the new arrangement will completely prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

What did Trump say about the agreement?

Trump said that the agreement has been prepared based on new negotiations to end the long-running tension between America and Iran. Describing it as a historic opportunity for both countries, he said that this will strengthen regional stability.

Iran’s Mehr News Agency has claimed that the proposed agreement is based on many conditions, and negotiations between the two parties are still at an important stage.

What are the key terms of the proposed agreement?

According to the report, the agreement includes a proposal to lift restrictions on Iran’s oil, petrochemicals, and related exports. Apart from this, there has been talk of giving Iran access to international financial resources again.

Under the agreement, a proposal has also been made to release about 24 billion dollars of Iran’s frozen funds. Of these, 12 billion dollars can be made available even before the talks begin.

What is the plan regarding the reconstruction of Iran?

The report claims that America and its allies can present plans worth about $300 billion for the reconstruction of Iran. It also includes permanently ending the ongoing military conflicts on various fronts, including Lebanon.

What can be the decision on the American blockade and military presence?

According to the proposed terms, the naval blockade imposed by America can be completely ended within 30 days. Apart from this, reducing the number of American military forces deployed in the area and the withdrawal of troops from some areas have also been considered.

There are also plans to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days, which could raise hopes of normalising global oil supply.

What are the conditions regarding the nuclear programme?

The agreement is claimed to include strict provisions regarding Iran’s nuclear programme. Iran must reiterate its commitment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and assure it will not develop nuclear weapons.

Along with this, a negotiation period of 60 days has been proposed to reach a final agreement on nuclear issues and sanctions. A monitoring mechanism will also be created, which will keep an eye on the implementation of the agreement.

What things still need to be agreed upon?

According to the report, final talks will not begin until certain preliminary conditions are met. These include releasing frozen funds, removing restrictions on oil exports, and ending the blockade.

However, all the points of the agreement have not yet been officially confirmed by both countries. In such a situation, the eyes of the world are now fixed on what form this proposed agreement will take in the coming days.
